Gold Group

Gold Strypers

The Gold Group is designed to build on the basic skills. This training group will have stroke technique refined and advanced, will learn to train and be introduced to greater aerobic conditioning.


Requirements:

Swimmers must be able to complete the following.

- Swim 200yd IM.
- Swim 500 yards freestyle (unassisted).
- Perform all turns.
- Swim 5 x 50 freestyle on 1:15.
- Basic understanding of pace clock.


Equipment: two pair of goggles, cap, split fins and a kickboard.

(All equipment is the responsibility of the athlete and must be brought to every practice).

Goals:

Swimmer is working toward the following accomplishments: 

10 & Under
11 & Over

- 2 x 200 IM @ 4.20.
- 3 x 100 kick @ 2.20.
- 6 x 100 freestyle @ 2.00.

and any one of the following:

- 4 x 100 freestyle @ 1.55.
- 4 x 100 back stroke @ 2.10.
- 4 x 100 breast stroke @ 2.20.
- 2 x 100 butterfly @ 2.20.

- 3x 200m IM @ 4.10.
- 4x 100m kick @ 2.20.
- 7 x 100m freestyle @ 1.50.

and any one of the following:

- 5 x 100 freestyle @ 1.45.
- 5 x 100 back stroke @ 2.00.
- 5 x 100 breast stroke @ 2.10.
- 4 x 100 butterfly @ 2.10.






Training Program:

Coaches and swimmers are focused primarily on stroke development with increased attention to aerobic conditioning and mental preparation.

Character Development and Life Skills

Championships Behavior and Accountability:

1. The swimmer will demonstrate an awareness of quality sportsmanship.

Work Ethic and Self-Discipline:

1. The swimmer attends the required meets and understands the importance of being on time for meet warm-up.
2. The swimmer understands why he or she must say no to drugs and other harmful substances.
3. The swimmer learns to challenge him or herself to his or her ability in practice.

Time Management:

1. The swimmer begins to learn the importance of managing school work and practice.


Social Awareness:

1. The swimmer willingly and enthusiastically assists those less fortunate.
